Mintive vs AWS AgentCore Gateway
Last updated: October 19, 2026.
Choose Mintive when you want one managed MCP gateway for the AI clients your employees already use, such as Claude, Cursor and ChatGPT, across any cloud, with Virtual MCPs per role on your directory groups, Mint Guard screening, SIEM export and Agent Monitor for coding agents. Choose Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Gateway when your agents run on AWS and you want tools, models and policies tied into IAM, CloudTrail, CloudWatch and Bedrock Guardrails.
Cloud-native gateway vs managed cross-platform gateway
Mintive is a managed MCP gateway that sits between your organization's AI clients and the MCP servers they use, regardless of where those servers run: admins approve servers in an internal registry, package tools into Virtual MCPs per team, and apply the same identities, policies and audit trail to every call. See core concepts. AgentCore Gateway is a fully managed AWS service that turns Lambda functions, OpenAPI and Smithy APIs and MCP servers into tools for agents, with identity, policy and observability built on AWS services.

Identity and per-user auth
Mintive connects to your IdP for SSO and SCIM, and SSO covers the OAuth flow a client runs when it connects to a Virtual MCP, so your IdP's MFA and conditional access apply to agent connections. Connectors use each user's own OAuth tokens, a shared service credential or cross app access. See authentication models. AgentCore Gateway accepts JWTs from any OIDC provider or IAM, and AgentCore Identity stores outbound credentials in a token vault scoped to each agent and user.
Access control and audit
Mintive grants each Virtual MCP to directory groups, so a user only sees the tools for their role, and streams tool calls, prompts and access changes to any SIEM over OTLP or Splunk HEC, or as batched files to S3. See RBAC and SIEM export. AgentCore Gateway uses IAM and resource policies, with tool and parameter level control through interceptors and Cedar policies, and records events in CloudTrail and CloudWatch.
Guardrails
Mint Guard (enabled on request) screens the arguments and results of every MCP tool call for prompt injection, credentials and secrets, PII and harmful content, alongside rules and middleware that block or mask, with PII and DLP templates. See Mint Guard. AgentCore applies Amazon Bedrock Guardrails through AgentCore Policy to detect prompt injection and sensitive information, and response interceptors can redact content.
Using Mintive with AWS
Mintive is not tied to one cloud, but it fits into an AWS setup. Each user's AWS IAM Identity Center sign-in is exchanged for short-lived STS credentials on every call, so AWS tools act with that user's own permissions (see architecture). Shared credentials can stay in AWS Secrets Manager and are read at request time through secret providers, and customer-managed encryption wraps stored connector credentials with a KMS key in your own account, with every use logged in CloudTrail (both on the Enterprise plan). Middleware templates send tool arguments and results to an Amazon Bedrock Guardrail to block or mask flagged content, so existing Bedrock policies apply to MCP traffic. MCP servers in a private VPC are reachable through Private Networks.
FAQ
What is Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Gateway?
It is a fully managed AWS service that exposes Lambda functions, OpenAPI and Smithy APIs and MCP servers as tools for agents, with AgentCore Identity for credentials, AgentCore Policy for access and guardrails, and CloudWatch for observability.
Can Mintive govern MCP servers that run on AWS?
Yes. Mintive connects to remote MCP servers by URL and runs hosted connectors in Mintive's managed infrastructure, so servers on AWS or anywhere else can be included in Virtual MCPs. Servers in a private VPC are reachable through Private Networks, and AWS tools can run on each user's own AWS IAM Identity Center sign-in, exchanged for short-lived STS credentials on every call. See add a remote MCP and architecture.
Which identity providers does Mintive support?
Mintive supports Okta, Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra ID and other SAML or OIDC providers for SSO, with SCIM directory sync. See SSO and SCIM.
Does Mintive monitor coding agents?
Yes. Agent Monitor uses hooks in Claude Code, Claude Cowork, Cursor, Codex and GitHub Copilot to capture file reads, commands, MCP tool calls and prompts before they run, with rules that can block risky actions.
How is pricing different?
Mintive plans are listed on mintive.com/pricing, with Mint Guard and zero data retention on the Enterprise plan. AgentCore Gateway uses AWS consumption pricing per 1,000 API invocations, with search and tool indexing priced separately.
